My blog’s a bit rubbish

But I like to think it’s at least a bit better than nothing.

Anybody bothering to read it carefully will, however, already be aware of this really good one (it’s also linked in the ‘blogroll’ in the sidebar to the right). Y12 students may not have come across it yet, so this is really to flag it up to you.

The latest post is about swearing (and there are quite a few other posts on the subject of taboo language which may interest all of you, but those Y13 students investigating that topic area may find a trawl through particularly rewarding). I have a copy of the Geoffrey Hughes book mentioned if anyone fancies a look. I also ought to get round to reading Steven Pinker’s new book that gets a mention there. I do have his book ‘The Language Instinct’ somewhere, which gives an interesting perspective on a range of language issues but is perhaps particularly useful for the Language Acqisition topic for Unit 6.

Unfortunately I think the blog is still blocked in school along with all other ‘blogspot’ blogs, which is a bit ridiculous but hopefully we can get that sorted. In the meantime have a good read through the archives at home.
