Sixth-Form English Club

Half a dozen sixth formers and I met for a very pleasant hour after school last Wednesday, and will do say again this week, for cake and poetry. Among the comments made were that it was really enjoyable to be able to discuss literature without worrying about assessment objectives and exam technique. I really enjoyed it, and had my own ideas about the poems we looked at broadened and challenged, especially as we wrestled with whether the voice in one of the poems was that of a human or a bee (or possibly both).

Do feel free to pop along. There’s no pressure: you can just sit and listen to what others have to say if you want, although hopefully you will find the discussion so stimulating that you’ll want to join in.

You can read about the T S Eliot Prize Shadowing Scheme 2012 by downloading the flier from that link. And if you’re wondering who T S Eliot was, this post will gave you a taster.
