Mathew asked me about the set-texts for the ELLA3 Text Adaptation component, so I thought I’d share the information.
Extracts from some of the pieces from these books will be used as the source material for you to trasnform into a text for a different purpose and audience. The texts will be printed on the exam paper, so it is not actually essential to study these books as ‘set texts’ in the traditional sense.
However, given that reading is a good thing anyway, I would recommend you getting a copy of these books so you can become familiar with the texts, which are:
Cupcakes and Kalashnikovs: 100 years of the Best Journalism by Women (Click for best prices)
and
A House Somewhere: Tales of Life Abroad (Click for best prices)
Due to these set texts being lengthy, only the following sections of each will be used for the examination:
o Cupcakes and Kalashnikovs: 100 years of the Best Journalism by Women
Sections: Home & Family
Crime & Punishment
Emancipation & Having It All
o A House Somewhere: Tales of Life Abroad
Sections: pages 1-148
